Barbara J Meyers

Barbara Meyers was born on May 31, 1934 and she passed away on August 21, 2024 with Barbara’s family at her bedside. 

Barbara‘s parents were Russell and Estella Kellicutt who moved to Longview, Washington in 1929. Barbara and her older brother Bob both graduated from RA Long High School with Barbara graduating in 1953. Barbara lived in Longview for all of her 90 years. She was married to her first husband, Gary Sanderson for 18 years and they had two daughters, Kelly and Karen. 

Many years later in 1993, Barbara married her second husband Carl Meyers in Reno, Nevada.

Barbara and Carl had met while they were both in high school. Barbara had a loving 22 year marriage until Carl’s passing. 

Barbara was an operator at AT&T for 34 years and retired in 1989. 

After retirement, she did various other jobs for the next 20 years before retiring permanently. 

Also, after retirement, Barbara and Carl enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, the beach and to car shows. In addition, Barbara loved cooking, gardening, and enjoyed spending time with her pets.

Barbara peacefully passed away after battling dementia for several years and also suffered from heart disease and cancer.

Barbara’s family is very appreciative of the nurses, caregivers, and frontline staff at Canterbury Gardens Memory Care for the wonderful treatment that Barbara received from them. 

Barbara will be buried next to her husband Carl Meyers at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kelso, Washington.
