Clarence Allen Jennings was born on October 31, 1945 in Kenova, Wayne County, West Virginia. Allen's parents were Clarence Marshall Jennings (a glass worker from Kokomo, Indiana, 1888-1974) and Tella Parsley Jennings from Mingo County, West Virginia (a grocery store co-owner, 1902-1978).
Allen was the youngest of 6 children of his father (who was 57 at his birth, 4 half siblings were born to Clarence and Maud Jennings) and the youngest of 8 children of his mother (age 43, 6 half siblings born to Tella and James G Donald).
By 1935, Allen's father moved to West Virginia to live with cousins in the glass industry, and he worked for a manufacturer of automotive accessories. In 1941, he met and married Allen's mother, Tella Parsley Donald. They married and had two boys, Kenneth Marvin and Clarence Allen Jennings.
During his childhood, Allen attended church with his family, and took care of his brother Kenneth, who had muscular dystrophy, until he died at age 29. After school in the 1960s, Allen began working in a glass factory in Kenova WV where his father worked. By the early 1970s, Allen moved to the Tampa-St Petersburg FL area, and was a maintenance man for the public schools, and later at a church and a mobile home park. He met the former Jacqueline Celess Taylor in 1989, and they were married until her death in 1996. In 1998, Allen married the former Marilyn Sue Doyle Johnson. They were ordained as ministers, and spent many years doing street evangelism, preaching, prayer, and discipleship ministry inside and outside of the church. In 2012, the couple moved from hot, sunny Florida to Marilyn's cool, wet, and quaint hometown of Kalama WA.
Allen was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, his brother Kenneth ( 1942-1971); all 4 of the Jennings half siblings, George, Eleanor, Wendell, and Ned; and all 6 of the Donald half siblings, Eugene, Vernon, Lawrence, Betty, Orville, and Walter "Sonny".
Allen is survived by his wife Marilyn; step children John (JoEllen) Johnson, Jennifer (Frank) Lucero, Jeff (Cindy) Johnson, and Jerry (Cheri) Johnson; 9 step grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren, and other relatives.
Allen died peacefully in the presence of his wife at PeaceHealth St John's Hospital in Longview WA on November 24, 2023 at the age of 78. The couple was within a few weeks of their 25th anniversary at the time of Allen's passing.
