Duane Walter Albright

January 16, 1953 — December 17, 2024

Duane Walter Albright, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 71 in Kalama, Washington. Born on January 16, 1953, in Longview, Washington, Duane lived a life full of laughter, love, and friendships that he cherished deeply.

Duane was not just a skilled carpenter with the Carpenters Union, Local 1707; he was also a determined entrepreneur who brought creativity and passion to every endeavor he pursued. His hands crafted not just structures, but also lasting memories shared with those he loved.

Duane was known for his selflessness—a characteristic that transcended his career and became evident in every interaction he had. He often left people with a smile, using his humor to bring lightness to even the heaviest of days. Duane's big-hearted nature and gift for storytelling drew people in, making them feel valued and understood. He was a man who did not know a stranger; each person who crossed his path was a potential friend, a canvas for his humor, and a recipient of his wisdom. He had a piece of advice ready for anyone in need, reflecting his kind spirit and desire to uplift others. In his leisure time, Duane embraced adventures and traveled widely, creating stories and memories along the way.

His love for gardening allowed him to connect with nature and cultivate beauty, both in his yard and in the lives of those around him. But perhaps what brought him the most joy was the time he spent with his family and friends. They were his greatest pride, his open heart always welcoming them with warmth and affection.

Duane is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara (Friel) Albright, and his loving daughters, Angela "Angie" Albright and Candice "Candy" Albright-Durgeloh, along with his cherished son-in-law, Patrick Durgeloh. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Stephanie, Hannah, Shawn, and Hollie, as well as his great-grandchildren, Avalynn and Everlee "Ellie" Gavette, along with Warren "Dallas" and Breyer Taylor. He leaves behind his brothers, Jere, Don, and Bobby Albright, who will carry forward the memory of their cherished sibling. Duane was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert and Vivian Albright, his sister Linda Albright, and his sister April Huffman. Though they are no longer with us, their presence remains intertwined with the beautiful memories Duane created throughout his life.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Duane's remarkable life during visitation on December 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, there will also be another visitation on Saturday December 28 from 10am-11am followed by a funeral service at 12pm on December 28, 2024, at the Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home in Kelso, Washington. As we reflect on Duane's life, let us remember a man called the jokester, the storyteller, the kind soul with a desire to spread joy. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and generosity—an enduring reminder of the power of human connection. Rest peacefully, dear Duane; you have left an indelible mark on our hearts.
