Michael Scott Lee, lovingly known as Mike, was born on June 3, 1963, in Longview, Washington, and it is here that he began his journey that would touch the lives of countless individuals. Tragically, Mike passed away on January 5, 2025, in Kelso, Washington, leaving behind a legacy painted with love, hard work, and unwavering kindness.
Mike started working at his father's company Richard Lee Construction in 1981 before moving to the PUD. He dedicated 33 years to Cowlitz PUD, showcasing his commitment as a proud member of IBEW Local 77. He began his career as a groundman and transitioned into a lineman apprenticeship role, completing his JATC apprenticeship trade training in 1993. Mike excelled as a journeyman lineman until his retirement in 2023, embodying a remarkable work ethic and inspiring those around him with his dedication and passion for his craft.
Family was the heartbeat of Mike's life. He was an incredible son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Mike's love for his family knew no bounds; it was the foundation upon which every aspect of his life was built. He was married to his beloved wife of 40 years, Lisa Lee, and together they created a home filled with laughter, warmth, and support. His children, Ashley and Daniel Lee, and his grandchildren, Sophia and Stone Lee, were his pride and joy. Mike relished every moment spent with them, whether it was riding his motorcycle, camping, or embarking on adventures to create lasting memories.
In addition to his immediate family, he is remembered by his parents, Richard and Judy Lee, and his brothers, Terry and Richie Lee. Their bonds were strengthened through shared experiences, love, and mutual respect. Mike's generosity extended far beyond his family; he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never seeking recognition for his countless acts of kindness. Helping others brought him genuine joy.
Mike's life was enriched by his passions. He loved the outdoors, finding happiness in crabbing and shrimping, as well as engaging in various home projects. He embraced every opportunity to explore new destinations with his wife and grandkids, truly living life to the fullest.
Though he is preceded by his beloved grandparents, Frank and Lorraine Harrison, and Lucius and Marie Lee, Mike’s spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
A Celebration of Life honoring Mike will take place on January 18, 2025 at 1 p.m., at the Cowlitz County Event Center in Longview, Washington.
